Canine DNA testing is now genuinely clinical. Consumer panels screen hundreds of known variants, degenerative myelopathy, MDR1 drug sensitivity, progressive retinal atrophy, cardiac and renal risk alleles, plus breed composition, which sets the reference range for almost every other measurement we take. A single test, taken once, redirects screening intervals and drug choices for the rest of the dog's life.
